Forensic PAL(Personal Alternate Lights)

With help through a grant from the West Side Nut Club, the Evansville Police Department Foundation has purchased Forensic PAL(Personal Alternate Lights) for all of our Crime Scene Technicians.  These state-of-the-art portable lights are just like the ones seen on CSI.

Forensic PAL

The Forensic PAL Personal Alternate Light is a state-of-the-art portable light. Four super-bright, blue light-emitting diodes LEDs create a bright light suitable for a general crime scene search for bodily fluids, fibers and other evidence which will fluoresce in the 450-470nm range. Small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, the rugged flashlight-style housing is shock-proof, waterproof to two feet and has been drop tested at up to 10 feet. Powered by three AA batteries included, the Forensic PAL will last up to 300 hours without any significant power decrease, emitting a steady light regardless of the remaining battery life. The estimated lifetime of the LEDs is approximately 11 years. Each unit includes a three-year warranty, comes in a hard side case and includes two pairs of orange goggles. The Forensic PAL is 17.7cm 7 inches long, 2.5cm 1 inch in diameter and weighs only 0.14 kg roughly five ounces.
